After a pilot test at ICiMB’s specialist cement-testing facilities in Kracow, Poland, the first industrial trial for Project Aether was carried out at Lafarge’s cement plant in Burgundy, France in February 2011.

During the trial, which lasted around two weeks, several thousand tonnes of Aether clinkers were produced. The trial saw close collaboration between the plant personnel and experts from the Lafarge Research Center and Lafarge’s Cement Division technical staff.

Tests will now be carried out at the Lafarge Research Center and by independent UK consultancy BRE  to assess the performance of these clinkers.

A second industrial trial will be carried out at another Lafarge plant in Europe in 2012.
